Oregon ARMA Chapter Board members met last evening and voted to cancel this month's Chapter Meeting. I have reached out to presenter, Tod Chernikoff and he agrees that, out of an abundance of caution, it was a prudent decision in light of recent events surrounding the spread of COVID-19.
Out of concern for those of us who have loved ones in fragile states of health, it was determined that the strategy of "Social Distancing" - or preventing the congregation of people in large crowds in an effort to remove possible vectors of transmission to slow down the spread of the virus was the wise course of action to take at this time. Now, as you know, "large crowds" would not be a term I would use to describe the number of attendees at our monthly chapter meetings, but the venue, the Portland Airport Conference Center, specifically, the Portland Airport, has several thousands of people passing through daily and in light of this, and other considerations we opted to cancel.
The Oregon ARMA Chapter Website will be updated to reflect this cancellation for this month, but I will keep you informed as to the status of upcoming events for April and beyond.
Please feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions or concerns.
