The profession of records management continues to become
increasingly complex as the data management needs of the global community expand.
Rather than the need decreasing for records management professionals with the advent of
the so-called paperless office, the need has increased as a result of the explosion in the
amount of paper and electronic data generated by a world hungry for knowledge and
information.
Records management professionals work in every conceivable
industry and organization imaginable. They come from all walks of life, with varying
educational backgrounds including records management and library science. Still
others join the profession after being exposed to records management in their work
environment. Some further their professional standing by achieving the status of
Certified Records Manager (CRM).
ARMA International and the local ARMA chapter work together
to provide records management professionals with education, industry specific focus
groups, professional resources, legislative information, and leadership and networking
opportunities,
